How to Join Cub Scouts Pack 667

Step 1:  Registration

    Registration is done at the time the scout joins the pack. The registration forms can be obtained from your den leader or online at cub scout application.  The adult application for the leaders and the scout parents are available from your cubmaster or at adult application.

The Registration Package Includes:

  1. A Cub Scout Application for each scout

  2. A Volunteer Leader (parent/guardian) application for one adult in each family

·      Each scout must be sponsored by an adult who is registered with BSA. This “Adult Scouter” is expected to actively participate in Pack 667 activities.

  1. A Parent Position Sign-Up form to help in one position and one activity per year

  2. Initial and sign the Parent/Guardian Pledge

  3. Pay the dues through December of the following year (our re-charter date for the next year is December 31st (change for 2007)):

·                $30 Pack Dues (checks payable to “Pack 667”) covers awards, etc. (per scout)

·                National Dues (checks payable to “OCBSA”):  If you join in:

                                December (as of -07):    $23.00 per Scout

                                                                    $11 for Adults

Step 2:  Equipment and Training

  1. Purchase scout uniform (closest place is Basics on Valley View and Chapman)

·         Blue scout shirt (667 on the left sleeve and the den number on the right)

·         Cubscout belt for award beltloops

·         Neckerchief and slide for your level (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos)

·         Hat (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos)

·         Scout book (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos)

  1. Inform the Committee Chairperson, Cubmaster, or Den Leader of any special medical conditions

  2. Take training to learn how scouting works.  Registered adult takes:

·                Youth Protection Training (30 min.) available online at www.ocbsa.org/training/youthprotection/youthprotectiononline.htm to learn how scouting keeps our kids and you safe,

·                Fast Start Training (15-30 minutes) at http://www.scouting.org/cubscouts/faststart/,

·                Committee members, Cubmasters, and Den Leaders take Leader-Specific Training in person for about 3 hours.

 

Step 3:  Participation

·         Your scout attends and participates in Den and Pack meetings and outings (bring the family).

·         One parent/guardian attends and participates with the scout (no “drop-offs” are permitted).

·         Be actively involved in the advancement of your scout. This keeps the fun in the family!

·         Have fun with your son!

 

What Are the Scout Dues For?

    Scout dues are fees we pay to the Boy Scout of America* national organization and to the pack. The national dues are pro-rated depending on when you join (the scout year runs from April to March). Pack dues pay for awards and crafts and are collected when you join the pack or in April.

Each adult leader (den leaders, cubmaster, etc.) need to register with the council so that background checks can be performed.
For Tiger Cubs, one parent per family needs to register since parents attend each meeting and take turns running the den meetings.
